OUR WESTSIDE TEAM
 
Anne Peters, MD—WSP/Roybal CHC
Diabetologist: Dr. Peters is the director of the USC Clinical Diabetes Program. Dr. Peters received her medical degree from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine before proceeding to Stanford University Medical Center in Palo Alto, California, to perform her internship and residency in internal medicine. She completed an endocrinology fellowship at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
 
Dr. Peters is involved in numerous professional organizations and activities, including the National Diabetes Education Initiative, American College of Physicians, and the American Diabetes Association, among others. She is currently on the editorial boards of the Diabetes Care, Preventive Cardiology, and Geriatrics. She is on the board of the ADA Research Foundation.
 
A frequent speaker, Dr. Peters has been invited to lecture at over 200 meetings, most recently on the subject of clinical treatment and management of diabetes. She has written over 100 publications, including articles, book chapters, reviews and abstracts. She wrote the Fifth Edition of Davidson's Diabetes Mellitus, which is a clinically focused textbook on the evaluation and management of patients with diabetes along with Dr. Mathur. More recently she published "Conquering Diabetes", a very well received book for patients on how to treat prediabetes and diabetes. She was voted to be on the Best Doctors in America 2002-2003, 2003-2004, and 2005-2006. Dr. Peters has research funding from the ADA, the NIH, the Institute for Healthcare Improvement, and the Keck Foundation. Her major areas of interest include developing systems of care for management and treatment of diabetes and its complications, and new therapeutics and technologies for the treatment of diabetes. She was recently featured in a PBS documentary entitled "Remaking American Medicine" (about the documentary).
 
David Eshaghpour, MSW
Executive Director of Development: David works with scientists and clinicians dedicated to preventing, treating and ultimately curing metabolic diseases such as diabetes. He works closely with faculty, staff, and grateful patients who wish to help further the understanding of these diseases. He is a graduate of Washington University in Saint Louis and holds a Master of Social Work degree with a specialization in gerontology from the University of Houston.
 
Ambulatory Operations Director
 
Donna Miller, RN, MSN, FNP-C, CDE—WSP
Nurse Practitioner/Diabetes Educator: Donna Miller is a Nurse Practitioner and certified diabetes educator. She has been involved in the field of diabetes for more than 5 years. She works hard to teach her patients the self management principles they need to help them live successfully with diabetes. She has previously run the Congestive Heart Failure / Hypertension Center at Daniel Freeman Memorial Hospital, adding an extra dimension to her knowledge base. Her clinical interests are: the physiology and treatment of Type 2 Diabetes, cardiovascular disease and intensive insulin therapy.
 
Meg Werner Moreta, MS, RD, CDE—WSP
Dietitian/Diabetes Educator: Meg Moreta has been working in the field of diabetes since 1992. She trained at the University of Medicine and Dentistry in New Jersey. She was most recently employed at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center where she worked in their diabetes department. Meg attempts to help patients learn to eat in a healthy, realistic fashion, that fits with each individual's lifestyle and food preferences. Her areas of clinical interest are: carbohydrate counting, exercise physiology and behavioral change.
