Patient Care
At the USC Westside Center for Diabetes, our mission is to give every patient the compassionate, evidence-based care they need to live a healthier, more confident life with diabetes. Led by internationally recognized endocrinologist Anne L. Peters, MD, our team provides comprehensive, culturally sensitive care for adolescents and adults across Los Angeles—whether on the Westside or in East LA’s most underserved communities.

Comprehensive, Patient-Centered Diabetes Care
We specialize in the full spectrum of diabetes management, from newly diagnosed patients to those with complex, long-standing disease. Our integrated team approach brings together endocrinologists, nurse practitioners, dietitians, educators, and researchers who work collaboratively to support each person’s unique health needs.
Our care model emphasizes:
-
Intensive diabetes management for Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes
-
Diabetes education focused on practical, day-to-day self-management
-
Treatment of related metabolic conditions, including lipid disorders, hypertension, and gestational diabetes
-
Access to clinical research trials, offering innovative therapies not widely available elsewhere
Patients benefit from the latest tools, proven strategies, and hands-on education designed to make diabetes management more effective and sustainable, including insulin pump therapy (including advanced hybrid closed-loop systems) and continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) technology.

Care Rooted in Community: East Los Angeles
In partnership with the Edward R. Roybal Comprehensive Health Center, we staff and operate the Diabetes Management Center—a cornerstone of diabetes care for low-income and uninsured patients in East LA.
Here, our multidisciplinary team provides:
-
Compassionate, culturally sensitive care delivered in multiple languages
-
Ongoing development of lower-literacy diabetes education materials
-
Pilot programs aimed at reducing obesity and Type 2 diabetes in disproportionately affected communities
-
A proven model of diabetes management that has been replicated throughout Los Angeles County
This work is made possible through research support and philanthropy, helping ensure that high-quality diabetes care remains accessible to all.
